Raisen Fort – Ancient Hilltop Fort with Spiritual and Historic Significance
DirectionRaisen Fort, located on a hill in Raisen town, is one of the most prominent forts in Madhya Pradesh. Built in the 11th century, this fort was a stronghold of Hindu rulers, later used by Afghan and Mughal rulers due to its strategic location. It overlooks the entire city and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Within the fort walls lie palaces, reservoirs, temples, and a dargah (mausoleum) of Hazrat Peer Fatehullah Shah Baba, making it a unique blend of Hindu and Islamic heritage. Every year, thousands of devotees visit during Urs (annual fair), where both Hindus and Muslims offer prayers.
